For the first time, the exclusive 190 year-old Dublin institution has allowed cameras access to the front and back of house. Staff at all levels - including VIP managers, concierges, doormen, executive chefs, florists and cleaning staff - are followed by RTE cameras as they deal with crises, prepare for grand events and gear up for the arrival of celebrity guests and world leaders.   The result is an insightful, entertaining and sometimes hilarious six-part observational documentary series that reveals the skills and hard graft that go into the making of a five star luxury hotel experience.

The series starts in glamorous style on Ladies Day at the RDS Dublin Horse show. After the competition champagne is flowing at the hotel's No 27 bar as hundreds of the most stylish descend to carry on with the festivities. However, there is a whiff of rivalry in the air as the spectacularly attired compete for a chance to win the hotel's own 'Most Stylish Lady Competition'.
The second in a new six part series filming behind the scenes at the five star Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin. This week the Shelbourne launches its very own oyster festival causing executive chef Gary to eagerly put together an oyster themed tasting menu. The Irish Rugby squad is in residence for their last match before the Rugby World Cup and the hotel staff say an emotional farewell to team Captain Paul O’Connell who is playing his last home game. Meanwhile a mother and daughter from the US book into the top end Princess Grace suite for six nights, costing a cool €20,000.
This week on The Shelbourne; It's a day to remember for two young newlyweds as they’re upgraded to the luxurious Princess Grace suite - and the staff throw in a few extra touches. Four young hotel employees compete for just three places on the hotel’s management course, and HR Manager Meabh considers bending the hotel’s strict grooming rules to find suitable staff for the new hair salon. Will tattoos finally be allowed in the country’s most exclusive hotel?
This week The Shelbourne receives a design shake up from top Interior designer Guy Oliver. In the Grand Ballroom there's a wine tasting event and while the Banqueting team struggle to clean glasses, Nisea the Shelbourne’s sommelier takes us through the art of spitting! Doiran gets a room ready for a multimillionaire guest, who like him started as a waiter. And the battle continues between the hotel staff and restoration team as the hammering is now affecting some of the hotels most expensive suites.
It’s the witching season and The Shelbourne is embracing the spirit of Halloween. We hear about the hotels very own ghost and Marcin from In Room Dining gets a scare of his own. Top Irish Designer Louis Copeland measures up the managers for new suits, and the search is on for seasonal staff for Christmas.
This week on The Shelbourne, after 2 years of research and work, Leanne finally launches a new beauty Salon in the spa. There is also a large wedding and the Hotel's style butler is called into action to provide retail therapy to the brides mother, who is still in shock over the news that the Hotel will be covered in scaffolding. With Christmas approaching staff begin preparations for one of their busiest months of the year. They are planning to put trees into suites and teddy bears into every room, if Dorian and Eamonn can decide where best to put them!
As Dublin's Shelbourne Hotel gears up to celebrate its 191st Christmas, we find out just how much effort it takes to get through the hotel’s busiest month. Chef Garry joins forces with the engineering team to build a train set that runs around the lobby, while the pastry team constructs a gingerbread village that seems to get bigger every year. This is Christmas on a grand scale, with designer cocktails, thousands of turkey dinners and the festive afternoon teas booked out until 2016. This year though there is one potential killjoy: the hotel’s restoration of the front facade is due to finish but they’re running behind. Will the many scheduled Christmas parties be overlooking a festive St Stephen’s Green, or some rusty old scaffolding instead?

It is a popular weekend with American guests and Head concierge Dennis O'Brien is inundated with requests. The hotels unique Genealogy Butler is also busy with guests searching for their Irish Heritage.
This week it's all about history and tradition as the Iconic Dublin Hotel celebrates its 190th anniversary. Head Chef Gary Hughes plunders the hotel archives to launch a historical tasting menu, and the staff get excited about a visit from Holywood legend Omar Sharif. Guest relations manager JD Flynn also prepares for a party from the middle east, who are demanding absolute luxury. Preparations are underway for Easter and as sumptuous handcrafted Easter eggs are laid out in the lobby, film producer David Putnum talks about his personal connection to the hotel.
It's love and romance this week at The Shelbourne, as a guest requests some help with his wedding proposal by asking hotel staff to fill a room with white roses. Will his girlfriend say yes ? The request sparks intense activity across hotel departments, from the in-house florists to the guest relations team. Love is also in the air as the hotel's wedding coordinator rolls out the red carpet for another young couple and their 150 guests.
Last in the series - The hotel is starting a multimillion refurbishment of the bedrooms. The builders have 5 days to completely gut and refit 8 bedrooms ready for a Friday afternoon inspection by pernickety hotel managers Alan Mahoney and Agnes Keogh. 5 star approval is not easy and everyone is feeling the pressure. It is also staff appreciation week - JD Flynn and the front of house team are on a team building day trip to a tree top obstacle course.
